Escaping is only the first step, Healing is the next…

Escaping is only the first step, healing is the next… By failing to heal, we regress.  The last thing you want to see after all of your hard work, pain and suffering, is for your daughter to return to her ex, or another man just like him.

Unhealthy, toxic and abusive relationships leave an everlasting mark on us. Even when they’re over they’re never really over. Our experiences stay with us for a lifetime and will forever impact our decision making, thought processes and reactions. Even when we find the strength to get out of an abusive relationship, we feel lost, damaged, hurt and ashamed.

We feel like we’ve lost ourself and we’re not worthy of rejoining the world. We avoid social situations and environments, we lose our joy and enthusiasm for life. We feel cynical and unable to trust, wary that people will use us.

Our families are happy that we’ve ended the abusive relationship, but they know that we’re still not alright, that we’re not the same person they used to know and love; we’re different now and they’re desperate to get our old self back. They’re also fearful that we’ll regress and return to our abusive partner or enter into another abusive relationship.

Verja is the second book in the Hidden Grove Series and it’s been written to help those who feel lost, damaged, hurt or ashamed after ending or escaping from an abusive relationship. Verja is designed to help take survivors through the healing process so they’re able to rediscover their true self, their joy and enthusiasm for life.

Getting out is just the first step, the next is to heal. If we don’t heal, we regress.
